Review:
This film begins in a hospital. We see the maternity ward were all the babies are kept and nurse walking back. We go down to the front door where a guard is sitting behind his desk. A nurse walks in and past the desk. The guard is reading a ‘mother’s day’ card and tells her she has to sign in, but she ignores him and gets on the elevator. We see it arrives on the maternity floor. The woman takes a baby and the guard arrives, but someone appears behind him and kills him.
We cut between two different activities. One is a group of three brothers in a car. One of them is shot. They just committed a bank robbery, but they learn that some other guy took the money. They are on their way to their mother’s house.
The other is at a party. We learn that there is a severe storm outside and that there is a chance a tornado could touch down. The couple that lives there is played by Jaime King and Frank Grillo.
All of a sudden, the brothers bust into a house that was theirs. Inside it is different, but they don’t have time to worry with their brother shot. Grillo thinks he hears something and comes upstairs to find these guys. The party is taken hostage and the eldest brother, played by Patrick John Flueger calls his mother to tell them where they are.
When she arrives, everything turns even worse. The middle brother, who is played by Warren Kole, was thought to be a psycho. It turns out that their mother is even worse; she is played by Rebecca De Mornay. Will the people be able to survive while they raise money to get out of the country? She has her ways of keeping the people in line and it increasing bad as they continue to defy her.
I loved this movie, I thought it was great. There is some really good acting from Mornay, King, Flueger and Kole. The others do well as support. What really made this film for me was the story and the action along with it. I wasn’t even sure what this film was and happened to take it home. I came in not knowing the story and it blew me away. Seeing how they people try to survive and what they go through really amps the suspense of this film.
I have to say watch this one. If you read this review and it sounds good, believe me it won’t disappoint. You might not enjoy it as much as I did, but definitely I think you will at least enjoy it. The action and the depravity is at least worth seeing, the acting and story help back it up.
My Rating: 8 out of 10
